I have a 99 Ford windstar. When i bought it, it had previously been dinged up in a multi-car munch. Anyway, all the electrical stuff worked great, but now when i press the door locks, only 3 out of the 5 doors will actually lock. And sometimes they get stuck locked until i pry them up. Please give me some suggestions on how to get them back in sync.

The door lights started to not work about a week ago by not shutting off when you shut the doors. Now the power locks will not work at all. Can’t seem to find where these particular fuses are. Checked under the hood in the power distribution relays and under the dash by the brakes. Any help?

Someone drilled the car door locks out of my ford ranger and I can’t get into my truck. I was wondering how much it would cost and who I should have install new car door locks? Do I go to an auto body shop? The dealership? I have no idea who to go to and how much this is gonna be.

The power door locks work by reversing the polarity of the voltage to the motor which moves the lock mechanism. I don’t think this is done directly by the door switch. Does the door switch control relays which are somewhere else? Does anyone have have a circuit diagram or can you explain how this is done? The power windows also seem to use the same system since they switches are the same. Thanks, Chas

How do I dissconnect my electric door locks for good?

The past few days my 1999 Dodge Caravan’s electric door locks have acted possessed. They’ve been locking and unlocking by themselves. For the short term I removed the fuse that controls the electric locks. Unfortunately my A/C now doesn’t work, the blinkers don’t work, and the ABS and Air Bag dummy lights are on. Where can I find information on how to get into the door panel and look for the wire that powers the actuators controlling the doors. (I’m assuming that disconnecting the wire in the driver’s door will cut power to the other doors as well.) That way I can put the fuse back and get all my other car components working again. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My door lock got pushed inside and now I can’t lock my driver’s side door because of a safety feature on the lock that doesn’t allow me to lock it without a key. I need to know where to get locks other than the dealership or at least a place to price them online. Thanks.

Every time I use my key remote, the automatic door locks unluck, and then lock two seconds later. I have to open the door quickly, or use the key manually to get in the door.

Even when I am inside, I hit the button on the door to let a friend in the passenger, and the same thing happens. I have to hold down the button or manually open the passenger side door.

I live in Maine in an apartment. Our only lock on our front door is one of the ones you push in the little button to lock it. To break in all you have to do is unscrew this little thing on the outside of the door and slide a card in. (we’ve had to do it once)

And that scares me.
I just read somewhere that it’s required by law that there are three locks (doorknob or handle lock, deadbolt and chain/lever). Is that true?

My 1992 Nissan maxima’s power door locks wont stay locked when i leave the car. I lock the doors then shut them and leave and within a couple minutes they unlock. Theres sumthing wrong wit the control module i guess but i cant fix it nor can i afford to have it fixed. Is there sumway i can just cut power to the locks so theyd act as manual locks? I didnt see a fuse for them otherwise id just pull that. Any help would be greatly apreciated, Thanks.
