g4acre asked: The boss walked into the office one morning not knowing his zipper was
down and his fly area wide open. His assistant walked up to him and
said, this morning when you left your house, did you close your garage
door?”
The boss told her he knew he’d closed the garage door, and walked into
his office puzzled by the question. As he finished his paperwork, he
suddenly noticed his fly was open, and zipped it up. He then understood
his assistant’s question about his “garage door.” He headed out for a
cup of coffee and paused by her desk to ask, “When my garage door was
open, did you see my Hummer parked in there?”
She smiled and said, “No, I didn’t. All I saw was an old mini van with
two flat tires.

Hawkeye asked: My garage door spring broke this evening and am wanting to know how to open the garage door without the whole thing falling off the rails. It is a two spring two pulley system attached to a garage door opener.

pinchegirl00 asked: Garage door is now being used manually. The problem was the garage door was going up and down when you tried to use the remote. I sprayed it with WD40 and wanted to know when you pull the rope to activate it manually, si there anything I need to do to use it with the remote? Or does by opening it manually put it back on track….thanks!

R asked: I want to install a garage door opener, but in the garage the main beam is in the way. It is a high ranch with a 2 car garage and the beam crosses through the middle of the garage parallel to the garage doors (supported by a pole in the middle of the garage between the cars. To install a ceiling mount garage door opener, I would have to cut a large hole or notch in the beam for the rail to pass through.
Is that OK? What are the alternatives?

xvl260 asked: Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring? One side of the wire on my garage door broke, right now the door is crooked. If I cut the remain wire, the door will not be sprung, will the garage door opener still have enough power to open it? This is just temp solution until I can get it fixed, but I need to know before I cut. Thanks.
What I had to do last night was, I losened the bolt that was holding the wheel that was winding the wire, it released the spring’s energy, then I just manually opened the door with a buddy. I’m going to hire a professional to fix it and wind it back to the proper tension though.

legaleye3000 asked: Wife lost her garage door opener but I still have mine. Can I buy one at a place like Home Depot and program it easily? Also, this is not for a house garage, it is for a condo complex that has a garage so I probably do not have access to a “unit” or whatever it is called; just my garage door opener.

C. J. asked: I am buying a house that has a “drive-in” garage in the basement. The garage door is in place, but they removed the track and caulked the edges of the door to permanently attach the door to the wall. I will need a new door with new tracks I am assuming. Also, the ceiling is low, so I would need to get the garage door opener to have the low ceiling option. I am in the St Louis MO area.

Jimbo77 asked: There is a lever that actually pulls and open the garage door when you press your garage-door button. Then there is a short metal bar along the chain (long) from the motor (box) and the garage door which grips the metal bar so it opens and closes the garage. This short metal bar runs when the garage door button is pressed along the chain, but it is not gripping as it should hence, the door is not opening and closing. Anyone has solution how to fix this ? I would appreciate the correct suggestion. Thank you.
