My dog tore a hole in the carpet where the carpet meets our kitchen tile. Can I repair it myself?

My new pup got a little over zealous today and tore a hole about 1/2″ across and an 1″ wide in our living room floor. The hole is right where the carpet meets our kitchen tile. I would like to repair it myself if at all possible, and have some leftover carpet from where we had our bathroom tiled.

all you can do is shave some fibers off the leftover carpet and glue into the torn spot ….may not last long, but better than nothng
