How can I repair my faucet, not replace?

faucet repair
sgt asked:

I have had 2 faucets, I believe they are American Standard. The same problem has
happened to the second one after replacing the first one. The black rubber or neoprene gasket has gotten bigger making it harder to push the spray nozzle all the way back in. It goes in part way but not all the way as it’s supposed to. Any suggestions except replace the faucet, which I have done once already? Also difficult to replace the gasket also.

Really not exactly understanding what it is you’re asking. If you’re talking about the neoprene gasket between the sprayer nozzle and the hose, that shouldn’t get larger at all. It’s not under that much pressure and besides, it’s completely separate from the faucet. You can purchase new sprayers by themselves without the faucet. Otherwise I don’t know what other spray nozzle there is on a faucet.

First be sure who the mfg. is and then look up the web site and get the Customer Service number and call them and explain your problem. Some mfg. will supply repair parts free of charge.

American standard is not what the name implies, all made in china stuff, maybe home depot has a rebuild kit for yours, take it over and match it up, american std stuff is cheap stuff these day not what it used to be so be prepared to just buy a new one,
