Does the do-it-yourself credit repair kit from places like office supply stores really works?

In short, No…. The info you will find in that $30 purchase is the same info you can research online. There is a government program called the Fannie Mae Program, and other places offer free books that they will send to you about buying a home and about your credit. There are some basic rules that can easily be followed. I could list every single detail, but the main one is to WRITE down everything you purchase in one week, or two and you will see where your money is going, the money you save after realizing where you can cut back on is money you can then put to some of your debt that is causing your credit to be low. Try to get a debt consolidation loan, do what if’s. is the interest rate lower if you combine all of your debts into one personal loan that you can see if you can get from your bank. Or just pay the minimum on one debt, and pay extra on the debt that has the highest interest rate, then once that one is paid off, the money you were using to pay off the first debt that has a zero balance, use that extra money to put towards your next debt. Discipline yourself with what you spend. Open up another checking or savings just for spending money only. Always pay yourself first with every paycheck, but then deposit that money into an account that you will only use for yourself, put the rest of your money in another checking account that you will use to pay your bills down. If you discipline yourself, in TIME your debt will get lower. It took me 3 years to repair my credit myself, and establish good debt. Check out the link below for more info on money 101

I saw several of them on ebay for way less than that including shipping.
Why waste $30.00 when you can get it for about $10.00. At $10.00 it is worth the gamble and you could put the other $20.00 towards your debt as every little bit helps.
I have not used one personally. But I would guess that it could be helpful if it contains form letters to use to contact your creditors.
If you find two things that are useful, I would think that it would be worth it.
